A Busy Week

We are wrapping up the last school year for our kids. The baby is graduating high school.Thankfully she finished all her school online in the last 2 weeks. It’s also Finals week at the high school for my husband. I’m working on getting things finalized at the college for the fiscal year end next month. We’ve been busy in the greenhouse this week too. We’ve got the hydroponic system up and running and have put a few plants in it, I’ve also transitioned my starts from the house to the greenhouse since it is no longer below freezing at night now. A few of my favorite gardening books are “The Backyard Homestead” by Story Publishing, edited by Carleen Madigan, “The Homesteading Handbook” by Abigail R. Gehring and “Square Foot Gardening” by Mel Bartholomew.

I am still working through “Orion Shall Rise” by Paul Anderson. Written in 1983, it’s a Eco-Dysotopian novel, set after nuclear wars that all but destroyed the world. There is a Space station type structure that is attached to Earth. There are places that have kept their original names while others have been renamed but are very similar to the originals. On Earth, things are setup in an almost feudal type system with Skyholm as the ultimate authority. There are battles on land, in the air and on Skyholm. As of the time of this writing, I am a little over halfway through it and am finding myself staying up later and later to read just a few more pages. I really can’t wait to see how this book ends.

Along with “Orion Shall Rise,” I am enjoying “The Bohemians” by Jasmin Darnik. Set in 1918, it is a historical fiction about Dorothea Lange, the famous photographer from the Depression Era. It is set in San Francisco and has other famous artists from the 1920’s such as Ansel Adams and Frida Kahlo.

I recently won a book from Karen Thornell, “Objection To Love” from a writers & readers conference for clean romance. I am so looking forward to reading it. I think it is going to be my vacation read here in a few weeks.

I have so many books on my TBR list, I have filled up a composition notebook and half of another one. My Goodreads list is forever long too. What do you guys use to track your reading list? Any good apps you would recommend?

Till next week, Blessings and Prayers,

Becky
