A new job means adjusting to a new schedule
I left my job at Kodiak College in favor of more writing time, but it is taking me a bit of time to get used to my new schedule. I start work later and finish later. However, I now have more time in the morning to use my creativity to write. I find myself getting sucked into my writing and have had to set a timer to make sure I make it to work on time, lol. I have also had to change my writing day from Fridays to Wednesdays, which is surprisingly more productive. I am struggling to find the right balance. However, today I am writing you from a fabulous little coffeeshop here in Kodiak called, “Bean and Bloom.” It’s right on the channel, and my friends and I can watch boats and ships going by, eagles flying, otters and seals playing at the water’s edge.

Current Writing Projects: I am currently working on a contemporary Christian romance set in a Midwest town. Kent is a widower bookstore owner and Phoebe just bought the storefront next door and is opening a game and comic book store. They will be working together to find out where the money for the church’s new children’s ministry building has gone. It is a story of redemption and restoration. This is the first in a series that will take place in the fictional town of Ivyton, Indiana.

Currently Reading: I am also reading so many books to review lately. At the current moment I am reading Anne Kemp’s newest book, “Goalie Interrupted.” It’s the second book in the River City Renegades series. You, my readers, know that I am a sucker for Anne’s books. This one is just as wonderful as her others. I’m not quite finished, but Dixon is definitely a new favorite MMC. Strong, and caring, he has a history with his new defensive coach, Elle. Elle is a hockey legend in her own right and is known for fixing problems and teams. I do adore Anne’s characters and her writing. I also just finished a book by a new to me author, Cara Putman, “The Accused.” It is a courtroom suspense that gripped me from the very beginning. Next up after that is a new author, Carly L. Carlson and her book, “These Wild Dreams of Ours.” I am not normally a western/cowboy reader, but Carly has done such a wonderful job with the build up of her book that I am dying to read it. Her cover is absolutely stunning. I have several due in May and June. And I can’t wait to tell you all about them.

I am hoping to get another post out to you all next week and tell you about some more wonderful authors and give you a review of “These Wild Dreams of Ours.” I am also working on a favorite book podcasts post. I also have a post working on a book with a mom that reminds me of myself. What was the last book that you connected with a character? Leave a comment and let me know.
