I’ve been reading Tolkien lately and I’m here for the Hobbit Girl Fall!

I started rereading “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of The Rings” last month and forgot how endearing and cozy they are. I also came across a new blog and website, Under A Tin Roof, underatinroof.com and created a few a her desserts and other things that turned out so yummy and are now family favorites. The Autumn Peach Spice cake, Pumpkin Coffee Cake, the Shire Shepherd’s Pie are going to be making regular appearances at our house. I also made up some Maple Walnut scones with Cinnamon Glaze this morning.

Last week I got to go over to another island next to mine, Woody Island, for a ladies retreat with my oldest daughter and other Christian Ladies and had a beautiful time. I listened to a dear Sister teach about rest and the benefits of resting in the Lord. We went for a walk, sat and read, did crafts and worshipped all weekend.

I have also had the pleasure of reading the first 3 books of the “Love on Thin Ice” Series and a few of the “Cinnamon Roll & Pumpkin Spice Fall” series. Both of these series take place in the Fall and have all ,y favorite tropes! Small town, second chances, friend to more, enemies to more, grumpy/sunshine and best of all, laughter and love. They’re like reading a Hallmark movies. 🙂

Breaking the Ice by Whitney Dineen,: The first in the Love on Thin Ice Series, a great beginning to a series. Ellie is a small town ice skating instructor who has just been informed that a billioaire “playboy” is needing her spare cabin that her mom rents out and she is not happy about it. Her ideas are all based on gossip TV and not on reality. Zach needs to get away from the press do to a coniving journalist. As the 2 are put together they come find out that theuy like each other. I really liked Zach’s character from the start, Ellie grew on me as she realized the truth about him. I can’t wait to read more about Maple Falls and the other citizens.
The Rebound Play by Kate O’Keefe: I loved this book!! It was so sweet to see the 2 main characters, Dan and Kiera, rediscover their relationship. Dan is a NHL pro coming home to play for a charity team. Kiera come home to help her sister take care of her kids They were high school sweethearts who broke up when Dan went off to college Kiera is the bookworm who doesn’t think much of herself. I love Kiera, I actually identify with Kiera, lol. Watching Kiera and Dan fall back in love made me both laugh and cry. I am definitely going to get more of her books.
The Friend Face Off by Grace Worthington:Absolutely adored this book!! Emmy is a BookTok influencer and runs the Falling For Books bookstore in Maple Falls and Dawson is her brother’s best friend from college. Now he’s an NFL hockey player playing in the Maple Falls Ice Breakers charity hockey tournament. They met before when he visited for Fall break and they made a pact to be each other’s fake date if ever needed. Emmy hates it, but she needs it. Dawson is adorable in how he goes about to get Emmy to fall in love, so far as to even read the local book club’s romance book. There’s a corn maze, pumpkin cheesecake and lots of teasing from Mimi. This one may be my favorite one so far.
Hating the Cinnamon CEO by Camilla Evergreen: Marcella spends her birthday filling out a 200 questionnaire online for someone trying to find a wife. She fills it out rather snarkily and then forgets about it. What she doesn’t know is that is was for her own boss, Finnegan Marsh. His happy go lucky personality irritates everything in Marcella who is a self-described pessimist and swears she doesn’t like much of anything. Marsh on the other hand, seemingly has it all, including great hair. He finds Marcella’s questionnaire and makes her an offer. There is friendship, a quirky main character and honest issues dealt with. Trigger warnings: dementia and the suicide of a family member.
It’s been a busy month for me so far. I can’t wait to see what all the rest of the season has for me. What are you all up to this fall? Any good reads or recipes to try? Prayers and Blessings-Becky
